We are excited to announce that Anvil will be able to offer authors and affiliated projects robust web preservation through Internet Archive’s Archive-It Service.
What Archive-It provides
Archive-It is a subscription web archiving service from the Internet Archive that helps organizations to harvest, build, and preserve collections of digital content.
Anvil will be using the preservation service to create archived versions of its publications (those housed on its partner institution servers as well as those hosted by authors and their institutions). We’ll also be making these collections available for full text search through the Archive-It interface.
Content will be hosted and stored at the Internet Archive data centers (part of the LOCKSS network), making it secure, redundant, and persistent in accordance with our commitment to the longevity of our and our authors’ productions.
The partnership is not just about committing to preservation, it’s also about shared mission. Since 1996, Internet Archive has focused on ensuring the availability and accessibility of human knowledge by creating a digital library to permanently store digital content from all over the world, for anyone to view at any time. The Internet Archive is the world’s largest public web archive, and all collections are freely and publicly accessible at www.archive.org.
